A bit about myself
I was born in Sri Lanka, raised in England. Currently I am a student studying psychology, an interesting subject but no unfortunately I cannot read minds. Other than writing of course, I love to paint, sing, and drink ginger tea- lots of ginger tea. These are just a few facts about me but I guess you will learn more about me throughout this blog!
Why start blogging?
I’m gonna be honest, back in high school, English was not a favourite subject of mine. Come university time, this all pretty much changed. I guess I always had been complimented on the way I wrote but never really took much notice of it. However, after entering university I noticed that a passion for writing was really starting to develop inside of me. As weird as it sounds, I realised I loved structuring paragraphs and essays, though I received a lot of stares when admitting this. I also noticed that when writing about things I love; I could go on and on. One of these things being Jesus.
I guess the first time I wrote about Jesus was at a youth retreat, when giving my first testimony. Now, I usually get nervous speaking in front of others. I tend to forget some things or stumble on my words, so I came prepared and wrote my testimony to read it out. To be honest I was a bit annoyed that I wasn’t able to just say it and instead had to read off a piece of paper, but of course God still worked through that. As well as others being moved and touched by what God had done in my life, though I was not expecting it, they also commented on the way I said it. Specifically, I was told that it was really coming from my heart and so it didn’t matter that I read it out. All that mattered was my heart was there and Jesus was speaking through it. And little did I know, through these people and experiences, God was actually planting seeds in me.
Slowly it was starting to become pretty evident that I had a burning desire to talk about Jesus, how awesome He is and what He has done in my life. And of course, God kept knocking on my heart and showing me that the means to do this was through writing, a passion He gave me. Fast forward some time and here we are now!
What is this blog about?
Other than being about the obvious-Jesus- the aim of my blog is to share my experiences. I also want to share the struggles I have been through and what I have learnt through them. Lastly, it is to show the realities and difficulties of being a follower of Jesus, especially in today’s society, and how to overcome them. I hope to be relatable and show you that you are not alone in this journey! Hope you enjoy reading through my blog and I pray that it brings you closer to The King!
